All Saints' Day 2021

Our students celebrated the Solemnity of All Saints at the Church on November 1st, 2021. All Saints’ Day is special day the Church all over the world remembers the Saints in heaven and the remembrance are not only for those who have been canonized by the Church, but also all those who today are enjoying and seeing the face of God. They are people who said ‘yes” to God’s will for them. On All Saints’ Day, we praise and thank God for what He has done for these holy people. Jesus invites us to be perfect, just as our heavenly Father is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Holiness is not a specific vocation reserved for only a few, but it is a universal vocation that Jesus offers to all of us. Therefore, we ask the Saints to pray for us that we might love our God and neighbors, the way Jesus taught us, so that we may enjoy eternity with them in Heaven after this life.

Debate Competition 2021

SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM

Saint Helen Catholic School conducts annual debate competition among 5th to 8th grade students every year. Speech and Debate covers public speaking (speech) and argumentation (debate). It aims at fostering public speaking on students. Students compete against fellow students in locally. The events range from fast-paced, academic debate, to quick-thinking impromptu events, to platform speeches advocating societal change, and theatrical interpretation events. During the competition, students participate and have the opportunity to win trophies. More importantly, students learn important life lessons about leadership, teamwork, time management, persistency, humility, and confidence. These life lessons are even more rewarding than trophies because they shine brighter and last longer.

2021 Middle School Winter Design Project

As we transitioned back classroom from remote learning for our students, our teachers have  gotten more creative with their lessons. Ms. Robergena Germain got especially creative by encouraging the middle school students to use different objects at their disposal to design and create projects. It was amazing creative activities as middle students performed beyond expectations by using crafts to design and build farmhouses, railroads, bird houses, robots, soccer field, Church house, gardens, city, and their work were displayed at Cafeteria for the all the students.

Youth Group Service Activity

Youth Group Service Activity at Dare To Care In November.

On the service day, 18 children participated along with 3 parent volunteers. We began at 7:00 a.m. and finished at 9:00 a.m. During this time, the youth helped with packing food bags and handing them to the families arriving by car.

The children represented Saint Helen beautifully. They were polite, engaged, hardworking, and showed a wonderful spirit of service throughout the morning.

Friday of the Fifth Week of Easter

Reading I: Acts 15:22-31

The Apostles and presbyters, in agreement with the whole Church,
decided to choose representatives
and to send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas.
The ones chosen were Judas, who was called Barsabbas,
and Silas, leaders among the brothers.
This is the letter delivered by them:
“The Apostles and the presbyters, your brothers,
to the brothers in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia
of Gentile origin: greetings.
Since we have heard that some of our number
who went out without any mandate from us
have upset you with their teachings
and disturbed your peace of mind,
we have with one accord decided to choose representatives
and to send them to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
who have dedicated their lives to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So we are sending Judas and Silas
who will also convey this same message by word of mouth:
‘It is the decision of the Holy Spirit and of us
not to place on you any burden beyond these necessities,
namely, to abstain from meat sacrificed to idols,
from blood, from meats of strangled animals,
and from unlawful marriage.
If you keep free of these,
you will be doing what is right. Farewell.’“

And so they were sent on their journey.
Upon their arrival in Antioch
they called the assembly together and delivered the letter.
When the people read it, they were delighted with the exhortation.
