In St. Helen School, fifth grade is the last year of elementary school for our students. In most cases, may already have their sights set on middle school. They may have different teachers for each subject for the first time and be expected to take more responsibility for organization and long-term planning. Study skills are emphasized throughout the fifth-grade curriculum, particularly test-taking strategies, outlining, mapping, and memorization techniques. Students are introduced to a variety of genres as they delve into novel unit studies. Through daily devotions and prayers, students begin to take ownership of their faith with Jesus Christ as their personal savior, recognizing His leading of their lives, and applying His teachings in their personal lives.
